Lic. Dafnne Corpus, a nutrition specialist, guides us on how to take care of ourselves when going to the bathroom becomes a daily problem. If you suffer from constipation, this information will help you a lot.
The normal thing to go to the bathroom is 1 to 3 times a day, EVERY DAY. It is not normal to go to the bathroom one day and then stop going 2-3 days or even more ⚠️.
Constipation (💩) causes inflammation, discomfort, bad mood, but not only that. It is a complete imbalance of our intestinal microflora where toxins are still absorbed and that affects our health. This situation also makes the weight loss process more difficult.
What to do to alleviate this annoyance?
Mainly, you have to make various changes in your lifestyle … 👇🏼
Increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables: it is a great contribution of fiber for your body to which you can add the consumption of green juices (homemade) throughout your day.
Eliminate junk products from your diet: fast food and flours out! These foods promote constipation and damage your nutritional health.
Increase your consumption of natural water: drink a lot of water !!!
Exercise daily: physical exercise, no matter how small, is medicine. Don’t stop moving!
Establish the times of all your meals and respect them.
When you wake up, fast, drink 1/2 glass of warm water every day: this helps to improve intestinal transit.
Reduce the consumption of foods high in calcium such as milk and even plant milk, as calcium makes stools even harder.
After breakfast, go to the bathroom (even if you don’t feel like it): this serves to give you time to try to do it, sometimes due to our routine we don’t pay attention and the day goes by without going to the bathroom even once or at least to try.
Something that I always recommend to my patients is to add 1-2 tablespoons of fiber, flaxseed, or chia to your drinking water or green juice, or also add a little aloe vera to your glass of warm water or green juice in the morning.
The use of probiotics is also very good since they help to restore your intestinal microflora, as long as they are recommended by a specialist.
Magnesium citrate also helps a lot to combat constipation: it acts as a laxative in a milder way, under the recommendation of a specialist since it is not necessary in all cases and the doses vary.
Not going to the bathroom is not normal. Request a consultation with your nutritionist and gastroenterologist so that together they can help you feel better.
